Open official portalThe Federal District Court (TJDFT) is a hybrid tribunal with unique jurisdiction in Brazil — it acts as state justice for the Federal District but has extended coverage to federal territories (in practice today, only DF). It has heavy volume of cases from federal public servants (in non-federal matters), capital real estate, family law and district tax enforcement. Fully migrated to PJE in 2017.
TJDFT at a glance
- Around 2.5 million active cases
- Jurisdiction over the Federal District (capital + 31 administrative regions)
- PJE system since 2017 for both 1st and 2nd instance
- Around 350 active judges
- High volume of cases from federal public servants (in state-level matters)
- Focus on real estate, family, and GDF tax enforcement
TJDFT lawsuit search by CPF
NNN.NNN.NNN-NN in the party search field and the system returns every case in any of the 31 Federal District administrative regions (Plano Piloto, Ceilândia, Taguatinga, Gama, Sobradinho, Planaltina, Guará, etc.) where the CPF appears as plaintiff, defendant or interested third party. TJDFT keeps 1st and 2nd instance on the same domain, so a single search covers the full history. Important: TJDFT does NOT handle federal cases (against the Union, INSS, federal servants in federal matters) — those go to Federal Justice (TRF-1/JFDF). For volume above 25 queries per day, the Vigilant API automates the query and returns structured JSON, ready to integrate into compliance and KYC systems. How to search lawsuits at TJDFT
Via the Vigilant API, a single REST call with a CPF returns the court's cases as structured JSON. You can also query through the web dashboard or via Google Sheets.
- 1
Access pje.tjdft.jus.br
TJDFT keeps PJE on a single domain pje.tjdft.jus.br for both 1st and 2nd instance. Click "Public Search" on the main menu.
- 2
Choose "Case Search"
PJE allows search by CNJ number, name, CPF/CNPJ or OAB. For due diligence, use CPF or CNPJ — returns cases in any administrative region of DF.
- 3
Fill in and walk the results
Response includes class, subject, administrative region (Plano Piloto, Ceilândia, Taguatinga, etc.) and parties. Sealed cases do not appear.

For volume or integration, use Vigilant
Vigilant queries TJDFT in a single API call, with structured JSON and 2-day cache. Ideal for fintech compliance on capital-based clients and M&A on DF-headquartered companies.
Local quirks & calendar
TJDFT follows only the national calendar (no state holidays — the DF is not a state). Standard forensic recess (Dec 20 to Jan 20). Important peculiarity: although located in Brasília, TJDFT does NOT judge cases against the Union, federal agencies, or federal servants in federal matters — that is under Federal Justice (TRF-1 / JFDF). TJDFT handles "state-level" cases occurring in DF: sales contracts, family, local corporate, district tax, etc.
